No weights today. Cardio and a whole lot of yard work. Gonna start some stuff on fire tonight I think! Woo hoo!
This is a quickie for my benefit only. But these are all for my benefit so...whatever. It doesn't take long to see small changes when I stay on track. Have I gone down a dress size yet? No, but I always start to lean out in my upper body first and I'm most definitely seeing it. Veins baby, they're coming back!

Legz, wheels, getaway stix...tree trunks :-/
Thursday was legs, the best day of the week. I always think I'm going to change it up, put some different exercises in there, etc. but I stick with the staples. Deep squats, SLDL's, leg extensions...I keep those because they feel good and they work.
Yesterday I could see it, I could see what's underneath, what I've been working so hard to build. No one else can see it yet, but I could. Not just my legs but everything. So while I am not currently experiencing any great leg pain (dammit all!), I am very excited.
Two "events" in the last day and a half and I'm proud to say I wasn't even tempted to eat or drink what I have not already deemed worthy of entering my body. I'm on a mission, and it will take a while because I want to stay sane during the process. Slow and steady wins the race...I've sworn off beer until Labor Day. That date may change to August 19th depending on where I think I am. Hell, by that time I may need a bit of a break anyway. Shock the body you know ;) and I just really like to drink beer with Big G.

Back day is SEXY!
That's right, I feel surprisingly feminine and woman like on back day. I sweat and I grunt and I breathe heavy. I drop the bar on the safeties, I have my versa's on, I have Drowning Pool blaring. All of that and I still feel super sexy on back day. I feel like the most beautiful woman on earth for that short period of time. It's different than leg day, not necessarily better, just different...good :)
I was so hesitant about working anything else on back day. I like giving one major muscle group it's own day. I've never been comfortable or satisfied with a full body workout, so when BSavage suggested this split, I was skeptical that I would a)enjoy it and b)feel like I worked enough. To my surprise I really enjoy this current split and if DOMS are any indication (dudes from the O35 forum can suck it on this point by the way) I am working my muscles just fine.
If I can get only one point across to any women out there that might read this, lifting weights will do more for your self confidence than anything else out there. The amount you lift is relative to you and you only, but if you push yourself, if you honest to God put in the effort, the rewards are amazing. Something I can't even describe. Not just physical either. I feel sexy even though my gut's hanging out during dead lifts! Ok, that was too much, I apologize.
Why yes, I do believe I'm writing this blog while experiencing an endorphin rush...
Diet is so good it's scary. It's been a long time since I've felt this in control and I love it. I missed it. This feeling is what gets me so excited about this lifestyle; knowing I have complete control over how I look. It's all me and what I decide to do with myself. No one can take credit for my accomplishments.
That being said, I've got some serious weight to lose and I'm trying to go about it the right way. High protein because I refuse to lose any more muscle than I have to during this process. My protein still isn't as high as I'd like it to be so I MUST tweak that. I'm not a carb nazi...yet, but I am trying to keep them low. I will lower every few weeks or so depending on where I'm at and how feel energy wise. Do I want to carb cycle? I don't know...that's a lot of damn work. I already plan absolutely everything out, do I really want to throw that in there too? I'm not taking it off the table, but right now I don't see the point. We'll revisit when I have the last 4 pounds to lose or the last few % of body fat.
Here's today's workout if anyone's interested. I WILL deadlift 300# one of these days. Not rack deads, from the floor awesome kick ass deads. Seriously.

Chest and Bi's
Chest and biceps today. Went lower on the weights with the hammer curls and the DB incline flyes because I like the burn in my chest and the pump in my arms :)
Chest is an issue for me and I believe I've discussed this before. I lift alone and it freaks me out. I psych myself out when I get under the bar. I know I can lift heavier but without a spotter, I can't even bring myself to really try. Gotta get me a partner :D
I love and hate pushups. I haven't done them in awhile and I think 35 is decent to start out with. I think I'm going to challenge myself to do 3 sets of 50.
I need to figure out how to attach my spreadsheet to this blog..or decide if I even really want to. It tracks weight, calories, macros, water, measurements...all of it. I'll think it over.
Ran a quick mile before weights and wanted to run one after but I ran out of time. I also saw a girl doing cleans in the weight room.
1) It was great to see a chic in the weight room and
2) Seeing a girl do a compound movement like that got me all jazzed up! I considered adding those but to be honest, if they work the traps at all I don't want to. My traps looked huge today. I'm not sure manly traps are the route I want to go.
Tomorrow is strictly cardio. I'm liking this routine even though it's only been a week. I think it's because I have a goal I'm working towards. Plus, I'm doing something different and that certainly means I will get different results right? Right.

Yes, Another One
I have decide to create another blog strictly for workout/fitness related stuff. I may stick with blogspot, I may not. I'm seriously considering leaving bb.com. I'm torn really. I love it there...and I hate it there. I can keep stats, workouts, progress pix anywhere. I don't HAVE to be on that site to do any of that. The support is very nice though and I have made a few friends. I also feel like I should give back what I've gotten. Not that I am some great fountain of knowledge but I can provide a "go get 'em" or a " you rock" type thing every once in a while. I'm just not sure what to do yet. BB.com is a bit of a mind suck and there's a whole lot of people on that site that are there because...well...I don't know why they're there. Their husband doesn't give them enough attention, they were bullied in high school, they're looking for cheap thrills through x-rated private messages? I really don't know. This doesn't just apply to people who don't seem interested in working out but also for those who do work out, for those that really could be a huge inspiration. But instead, they choose to screw around talking about everything and anything and most of the time, I have to wonder if all the shit they talk isn't made up. It is a social site but it supposed to be geared toward bodybuilding, powerlifting, etc. There are now miscellaneous forums where people talk about everything BUT bodybuilding and that's fine too...to an extent.
People get brave behind the keyboard, they become people they wouldn't normally be in real life face to face conversations. They say rude and crude things, they become aggressive and hostile. This goes for both men and women. To me, that's not a good place to be. I wouldn't hang around rude and hostile people that make stories up in real life, so why waste my time with them on the computer?
Lately I have seen people leave and they are good people. Their explanations to me echo what I've said up there, what's been going trough my mind for a long while now.
This is why I'm going rogue. Screw bb.com! Well, not exactly. I'll keep my profile up, I'll check in on the Over35 forums (because I like to see what the old folk are up to ;) ) but I think I want to distance myself from all things...unreal.
My goals both personal and fitness related are to be happy...but not satisfied. This applies more to the fitness portion of my lifestyle but the concept is virtually the same. I want to set goals, make progress, achieve great things and then set more goals beyond the ones I've already knocked down. Keeping track, whether it be a budget, a journal, a blog or an excel spreadsheet is essential. It doesn't have to happen on a social media site OR if it does, that doesn't mean I have to participate in garbage.
I have a hard time with change. I'll do it, but it always takes me a bit to take that first step. I've been on bb.com for a lot longer than my profile lists. I know the site, I know the people, I'm comfortable there but that's the problem. When you're comfortable you stop moving forward...I'm talking body building right now. It's time to shed the stuff and get down to business on my own. All the atta boys I got were nice but that's not how I lost weight, that's not how I built my muscle, that was all me baby. And I can do this any way I want.
So I'm forgetting the stuff and going to figure out how to push myself to new heights all on my own. I love this stuff, more than a lot of people know, so when a site that's supposed to help my passion grow starts sucking the fun out of it, it's simply time to find something better.
Besides, I get too lovey dovey in my other blog and I post Dave Matthews, and as much as I love Dave, I gotta have a place where I can be bad ass and post some Korn and get myself psyched up. This isn't surprising to me. Two completely different sides of me posting in two different blogs. A little Sybil-esque? Perhaps. I'm just going to embrace who I am and do what I feel works for me.
